Our Engineering Department is looking for a customer-focused, detail-oriented team member to support daily operations at the front counter and behind the scenes. You’ll interact regularly with the public and internal staff, helping the division deliver timely, accurate information and service.
As Customer Service / File Clerk – Engineering, you provide clerical and records support across Engineering, respond to in-person, phone and email inquiries, and route visitors and calls. The position issues permits and receipts, processes payments through the Tempest cashier system (cash, cheque and debit), maintains a float and balances batches daily. You’ll also prepare routine correspondence, input calls for service, and provide general clerical support (project/construction mailouts, office supply orders, fleet vehicle tracking etc.) to the various sections of the department as needed.
Requirements include the completion of Grade 12 (or equivalent) plus additional courses in common word-processing and spreadsheet software; at least six months of office/customer service experience with records-management systems and computers; and a keyboarding speed of 40 wpm. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The successful candidate will demonstrate clear, courteous communication, accuracy with cash handling and data entry, and discretion when handling information. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week).
