• Coordinate the work of the Process Engineering team to effectively support large, multi-disciplinary capital & capital maintenance projects throughout project lifecycle (process design reviews/input to construction, commissioning and handover).
• Provide effective communication, negotiation and leadership in interactions with Utilities Delivery, Capital Priorities & Investment, Utilities Asset Management, WT Capital Maintenance, and Service Team.
• Manage daily operations and technical performance of the process engineering team.
• Apply engineering analysis and judgement to drive the identification, design and implementation of enhancements to water treatment processes and infrastructure to improve plant efficiency & water quality.
• Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance and Lab/environmental teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Manage staff selection, goal setting, training plans, performance reviews and development assessment.
• A degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering.
• You must have at least 6 years of relevant professional engineering experience in an operational environment, preferably as a Process Engineer in municipal water treatment obtained after receiving your P. Eng. • Team leadership / supervisory experience is preferred.
• Ability to organize, lead, mentor and motivate a group of technical resources.
• Ability to provide direction in a challenging and changing environment, and a willingness to make and effectively communicate difficult decisions.
• Ability to manage complex, technical issues to ensure the water treatment process complies with provincial permit requirements.
• Communicate effectively on technical and operational issues to multiple audiences.
• Project management skills, with demonstrated ability to direct staff to achieve the goals of a project.
