JOB SUMMARY
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Supervisor. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Procurement & Accounts Payable. This position provides supervision and co-ordinates daily department activities, which includes overseeing all payments to ensure policies, by-laws, are followed and accounting principles are adhered to.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads projects for the rollout of new Accounts Payable automation systems.
- Ensures correct processing and timely invoice payments in conjunction with other Accounts Payable staff.
- Balances and reconciles accounts monthly and adjusts and corrects opening and closing entries including monthly and year-end accruals.
- Ensures that cheques comply with policy and proper approval is obtained for release of payment.
- Leads the procurement card program to ensure transactions are reconciled and uploaded in a timely manner.
- Approves the setup of new vendors and changes to vendor addresses; verifies the accuracy of information.
- Answers queries from vendors regarding payment issues as they arise and directs calls to appropriate parties for resolution.
- Supervises the workflow of the department to ensure the efficient payment of all vendor accounts.
- Directs and/or assists in the performance of tasks.
- Provides effective guidance and direction to staff by establishing priorities and objectives and fostering effective teamwork among employees.
- Reviews work productivity to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Analyzes performance metrics to monitor trends. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for professional growth.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business Administration, with 5+ years progressive accounting, including accounts payable experience with at least two years in a supervisory capacity
- An accredited accounting designation (CPA)
- Interpersonal skills; the ability to effectively communicate and interact with those this position supervises, other City colleagues, and individuals external to the City
- Sound judgement and ability to handle matters of a confidential, political and/or sensitive nature
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency

Salary Range:$88,073.00 To $111,600.00 Annually
