As the Lead, Transportation Levies you will provide technical expertise, leadership, coordination and execution of activities in developing, implementing and monitoring policies, strategies, design specifications and long-range network plans related to the funding of transportation and transit infrastructure. This role will make critical connections across the corporation as well as interact and consult with industry members and special interest groups. Primary duties include:

  • Collect, analyze, and communicate complex information and data to support department and corporate decision making, including financial decisions to senior leadership, development industry, and partners.
  • Strategize, plan, manage and deliver activities as per provincial legislation for transportation and transit infrastructure funding.
  • Coordinate, conduct and support technical analyses of the need, timing, cost and funding of transportation and transit infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the development of alternative funding options for transportation and transit infrastructure.
  • Build and foster relationships and networks with internal and external technical experts and operations staff.
  • Develop and present project related materials and recommendations to various audiences, including internal and external interested parties, City Council, and the public.
  • Attend interested party and public meetings, open houses, and online forums or sessions as required.
Requirements

Qualifications 

  • A degree in a related field with at least 10 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practising status by the first day of work Click here for more details
  • Experience in transportation or transit infrastructure project delivery is an asset.
  • Knowledge of provincial legislation related to municipal infrastructure funding.
  • Advanced relationship building skills and experience in partner management is an asset.
  • Strong financial literacy and high-level understanding of corporate capital, finance, and planning processes is an asset.
  • A strategic thinker that demonstrates analytical thinking, innovation, and problem-solving skills to weigh opportunities and risks to arrive at positive outcomes and recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills, political acumen, change management, building strong relationships, the ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment, and lead without authority.

Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Engineering Level F $106,174 - 162,616 per annum

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
