We are currently recruiting a Distribution/Collection Operator for our Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection department. This job is for physically active people who get a great deal of satisfaction from doing the job right every time. Job Duties
- Maintain and operate water and wastewater mains
- Maintain and operate hydrants and valves
- Maintain and operate manholes and lift stations
- Electronic inspection of sewer service
- Maintain water pumping and storage facilities
- Maintain grounds around operating facilities
- Water meter installation and electronic meter reading
- Water sampling and testing
- Records maintenance
- After-hours standby schedule
- Equipment operation
- Water turn on/turn off
- Other related duties as assigned, which may include, but are not limited to, support in Treatment, office duties etc.
Requirements
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without limitations
- Must have knowledge of distribution/collection infrastructure repair and maintenance
- Must have a minimum of six months experience in water distribution and wastewater collection
- Must be self-motivated, organized, and safety conscious
- Must be able to work without direct supervision
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a proven mechanical aptitude
- Must have good oral, written, and interpersonal skills, supporting our values and principles
Travel to remote locations, including overnight travel, may be required.
Qualifications
- Level II Certification in Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection is preferred; Level I in each discipline may be considered
- High School or equivalent education
- Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license (non GDL), Class 3 would be an asset
- Possession of Confined Space Entry and Standard First Aid certificates are an asset
As conditions of employment the following will be required prior to start date:
- Valid Canadian Drivers license
- Driver’s Abstract satisfactory to the Employer
- Criminal Records Check satisfactory to the Employer
- The successful candidate will be required to pass a 50 lb. pre-employment physical fitness test
- Successful completion of a comprehensive drug and alcohol test
If the candidate is invited for a second interview, a copy of a valid Canadian Driver’s license and driver’s abstract will be required (five year abstract preferred).
