Position Overview

We’re looking for a Building Automation and Access Control Technician who’s ready to take on a key role in maintaining the smart infrastructure behind the City’s facilities. The successful candidates must have the following qualifications:
- Completion of Red Seal Program in Electrical, HVAC or Carpentry.
- Two (2) years’ previous experience with access control systems, security systems and camera systems maintenance and repair, within the last five (5) years.
- Two (2) years’ previous experience in complex building automation systems management and planning, within the last five (5) years.
- Ability to obtain BC Security Worker License within four (4) months.
- Proficient in advanced Word and advanced Excel as demonstrated through testing. (70% pass rate required)
- Ability to obtain a Skilled Trades BC qualification as a Security Systems Technician within eighteen (18) months.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
- Ability to obtain and maintain RCMP reliability security clearance.
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position. This is a Cupe local 900 position.
Please note that this is a new job classification and is subject to agreement between the Employer and the Union.
