Description
The Supervisor, Land Use Planning is responsible for effectively supervising the planning function and for developing and implementing policies and bylaws related to current planning and land use management in Prince George. Areas of responsibility include the Official Community Plan, Neighborhood Plans, Zoning Bylaw, development permits, development variance permits, liquor licensing, agricultural land reserve, and other land use related applications. The Supervisor is further responsible for overseeing the efficient and professional operation of the front counter, permit and business licensing functions and has supervisory responsibility for unionized administrative staff. There is particular emphasis on business process analysis and improvement and supporting the implementation of software solutions to enhance services relied upon by the public.
Requirements
Along with a Postgraduate University Degree in Land use, Environmental or Regional Planning, geography, or related discipline, the ideal candidate has five years of related planning experience, including three years as a supervisor in a unionized environment. Previous experience with Land Use Planning and land use issues is required. Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is desirable.
