Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services, the Assistant Manager of Environmental Services will be responsible for planning and implementing the City’s biodiversity initiatives, facilitating environmental and archaeological permitting for municipal projects, and assisting in the supervision and mentoring of department staff. The Assistant Manager of Environmental Services will work across municipal departments and with provincial and federal agencies, First Nations, stewardship groups, and members of the public.
Are you the one we’re looking for?
You are a Registered Professional Biologist with demonstrated knowledge of and experience in environmental conservation and associated legislation. You have excellent written and oral communication skills and experience in detailed report writing, giving presentations, and preparing contract documents and environmental applications. You have proven leadership and project management skills and work well with a team.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has a minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a biologist. Experience in management, municipal government, and/or First Nations’ consultation and engagement would be an asset. You possess a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in biology, ecology, environmental science or equivalent, and are Registered with the BC College of Applied Biologists. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
