The City possesses an extensive network of roads, totaling around 17,000 lane kilometers, with an estimated replacement value of $10 billion. As a Pavement Infrastructure Planning Engineer, will be responsible for the development and implementation of pavement rehabilitation and maintenance strategies to achieve City¿s technical and customer level of service. You will also support the development and implementation of the pavement management plans for the annual pavement rehabilitation program and other pavement maintenance programs. Primary duties include:

  • Analyze available data pertaining to the pavement assets classes to determine optimized plan for future operations, growth, renewal and replacement, and innovation. 
  • Develop and monitor annual pavement rehabilitation programs for reconstruction / rehabilitation / preventive maintenance of pavement assets.
  • Contribute to the preparation of long-range infrastructure plans, servicing studies and operational plans, including further development of risk modelling, levels of service and strategic plans. 
  • Manage future roadway condition assessment leveraging emerging technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manage the pavement inventory and condition records, as well as the pavement asset management application, with a commitment to data integrity and quality control.
  • Responsible for prioritizing paving locations and conduct comprehensive inspections and contribute to the determination of annual pavement rehabilitation sites.
  • Build and foster networks and relationships with internal technical experts, operations staff, other business units, and key partners across the City.
  • Assist in budget planning, preparation of business cases and other project management duties. 
  • Generate and compile detailed technical briefs, memoranda, reports, and presentations.
Requirements
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • You must have at least 4 years of experience in a Construction or project management of infrastructure projects obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work Click here for more details.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than six demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending is required.
  • Previous experience in pavement engineering, pavement deterioration model / analysis, inspection and data collection, asset management, project management and ArcGIS would be considered an asset. 
  • Exhibited robust competencies in analytical reasoning, cooperative engagement and fostering of interpersonal connections, client-centered service, effective discourse, and a constructive outlook.
Salary & Benefits

$93,651 - $141,404 per annum
