Description
Summary and Job Duties:
- Flushing hydrants
- Painting hydrants
- General maintenance of the Distribution and Collection building and grounds
- Water meter and billing services
- Being familiar with CityWorks and observation of different D/C crews
- Other duties as assigned
Summer interns are expected to:
- Understand and follow safety regulations and work to a high level of safety
- Contribute towards building a strong team
Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements:
Special Conditions:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license
- Have a desire to learn the aspects of Water and Wastewater Operations
- Completion of HCS 3000 (HCS 3010 is optional)(High School Students only)
- Students must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite
- Steel toe footwear is required
- All other PPE will be provided
As conditions of employment the following will be required:
- Provision of a valid Canadian Driver’s license acceptable to the Employer (minimum Class 5)
- Provision of a Driver’s Abstract satisfactory to the employer
- Successful completion of a pre-employment 50 lb. physical fitness test
- A criminal record check satisfactory to the employer
- Satisfactory completion of a comprehensive drug and alcohol test
Hours of work are 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday
Salary & Benefits
Rate of pay is $19.00 per hour.
