ABOUT THE ROLE 
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and as a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the General Manager, Regional and Community Utilities (RCU), is responsible and accountable for the delivery of major initiatives and strategic oversight of the solid waste, wastewater, water, capital project delivery and facilities and fleet departments. This is an incredible opportunity for a collaborative local government leader with a passion for building resilient and sustainable communities to lead the Regional and Community Utilities teams at the Regional District of Nanaimo.

 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will bring strong collaboration and leadership skills and a commitment to delivering essential services to the community. The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in public administration, business administration, engineering or other related discipline, complemented by a post-graduate degree; with eight (8) years of progressive public sector leadership experience, preferable in a local or regional government setting, overseeing professional staff and consultants in the effective delivery of major capital projects, public works and utilities services. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

 

Salary & Benefits

POSITION DETAILS
The salary for this position is $183,104 - $203,449 annually and is supplemented by a competitive total compensation plan. This salary is based on the 2024 exempt management salary structure and does not reflect the results of the salary review that is currently underway in accordance with the exempt compensation policy.
