Working in a collaborative environment in Strathcona County's Election Office, the Coordinator, Election Worker Recruitment and Training is responsible for recruiting and training election workers to staff the County’s voting stations for the 2025 municipal election. This position will work closely with the Project Manager, Legislative Projects to update materials and deliver training to election workers using a blended e-learning and in person approach.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Project Manager, lead election worker recruitment activities
- Developing the online application form
- Collaborate with the Election Administrator to receive and manage applications
- Schedule and conduct interviews
- Assign election workers to positions and voting stations and reassign as needed
- Update and develop training materials for both e-learning and in-person training
- Distribute e-learning links to election workers, monitor progress and provide support
- Deliver in-person training sessions
- Develop handbooks to be used by election workers in the voting stations
- Support the Election Team with other tasks as needed, such as supply packing, and responding to inquiries over the phone and via email
Qualifications & Skills
- Post secondary diploma in a related field with one year of experience in recruitment and training
- Experience working with legislation, such as bylaws, FOIP, the Local Authorities Election Act, or the Municipal Government Act is an asset
- Previous experience working in the public sector or with elections is an asset
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, and ability to remain professional while working with internal and external clients (coworkers, the public, senior administration)
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (O365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint)
- Experience using E-Learning software is an asset
- Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and at times, with a high volume of various tasks
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
Pay Range: $35.32 - $44.14
