The Adult Wellness Programming team is seeking skilled and passionate instructors to lead specialty fitness programs for participants with chronic health conditions.
As a Contract Fitness Instructor, you will work on a contract basis, joining a roster of instructors who will be notified of opportunities throughout the year to deliver fitness programming. This position requires availability during regular weekday business hours.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality fitness classes for up to 20 participants in a safe, engaging, and positive environment. Classes may include individual wellness center programs, group-based programs, and water-based programs.
- Supervise participants and create class plans with appropriate progressions and adaptations based on participant abilities.
- Collaborate and positively interact with the Adult Wellness Programming team.
- Manage equipment, including the setup and takedown of program areas.

- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- Adaptability to changing work environments and demands.
- Completion of a post-secondary degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Current certifications in CSEP-CEP (Clinical Exercise Physiologist) and/or ACSM-CEP (American College of Sports Medicine).
- Experience working with participants with chronic conditions is required.
- Aqua-fitness certification (Fitness Alberta, WaterART) is considered an asset.
- Group Exercise Certification (Fitness Alberta, canfitpro) is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in exercise instruction.
Conditions of Employment
- Submission of current CSEP-CEP or ACSM- CEP, Standard First Aid and CPR C Certification
Pay Range: $36.00 - $60.00 per class
