Economic Development Assistant - Temporary Full-Time (1 Year Term)
Camrose County is seeking a motivated Economic Development Assistant to join our team. This role emphasizes administrative support, social media engagement, business connections, and event planning. Reporting to the Planning and Development Manager, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in fostering business growth and community engagement within Camrose County.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative Support:
- Manage information referrals and database input with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Create, format, and maintain economic development documents, reports, and presentations.
- Provide general administrative support to the Manager of Planning and Development and Economic Development Committee.
- Social Media & Communications:
- Coordinate and manage social media operations, including platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google Business.
- Develop and post engaging content to promote business initiatives, events, and opportunities.
- Produce regular economic updates for the County business community, including relevant news, funding opportunities, and community events.
- Business Connections:
- Act as a liaison for inquiries from ratepayers, businesses, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with local businesses and economic partners to identify opportunities for growth and investment.
- Represent Camrose County in a professional manner on internal and external committees as required.
- Event Planning:
- Plan, organize, and support business and community events to promote economic development initiatives.
- Assist in coordinating meetings and presentations for internal and external groups.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required. Additional training or certification in business administration or a related field is an asset.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), desktop publishing, and website maintenance.
- Skilled in social media management and creating visual presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with local government operations is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract.
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check.
Work Conditions
- Regular hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Monday through Friday
- Travel within the County for meetings or events
- Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy materials
