Description
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent part -time Switchboard Operator - Police. Under the general supervision of the Manager, Police Support Services, the incumbent performs all aspects of switchboard duties on non-emergency telephone lines; dispatches and receives radio messages; opens files; completes data entry and processes information on the Police Records Information Management Environment (PRIME).

Requirements

Applicants must have Grade 12 and a minimum 1 year related experience, including experience in a law enforcement office environment or switchboard experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Attainment and maintenance of RCMP Reliability/Security Clearance is mandatory.

Salary & Benefits

This is a CUPE bargaining unit position. The hourly wage is $35.58 increasing to $37.44 upon successful completion of probation (Jan 2024 Rates). Hours of work vary with shifts up to 12 hours per day (approximately 36 hours per week). This position operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
