Position Overview
The City of Kamloops is now accepting applications from post-secondary engineering students for work within our Engineering Division. The successful candidate will commit to a four-eight month work term from approximately January 2025 to May or August 2025. This position is ideal for any engineering student who wants to see community infrastructure like roads, water and sewers be conceptualized, planned, designed and built. This role involves reviewing and researching CSA and other engineering standards, assisting with utilities-related fieldwork such as sanitary sewer flow monitoring and water booster station testing, evaluating opportunities for green infrastructure, reviewing video footage of sanitary sewer and storm main inspections, and conducting site inspections and inventory for utility systems.
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary engineering education program.
- Proficient in intermediate Word and intermediate Excel, as demonstrated through testing. A 70% pass rate is required.
Please note that this position falls under the Co-op Student Employment Letter of Understanding.
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. This position will receive 4% in lieu of all benefits, vacation, stat holidays, and health time. This is a CUPE Local 900 position.

As per the LOU, the rate of pay will be: Term 1: $28.765 (including 4% in lieu of benefits) should you be completing more than one term with the City of Kamloops, please refer to the Co-op Employment Letter of Understanding.
