We are seeking one junior staff to perform technical work related to municipal engineering. Our department is focussed on improving safety for all road users, reducing Saanich’s climate footprint and facilitating the rapid development of housing and jobs.

Requirements

Your duties to support this will include responding to inquiries received from the public, reviewing road works permit applications, designing minor road safety improvements and providing technical support to senior staff. You bring an open mind to the future possibilities of active transportation in Saanich. Personal experience walking, rolling and cycling considered an asset to join an award-winning team.

We are looking for applicants who bring creative, sustainable and practical solutions to transportation related problems. We require applicants to have strong written and oral communications skills, a two-year Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized institution; three months of related experience; eligibility for registration with ASTTBC; strong computer skills and possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.  Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday, 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (17.5 hours per week).

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $37.07 per hour and an excellent benefits package.
