Position Overview:

We are seeking an innovative and strategic leader as our new Manager of Current Planning. This role leverages your planning expertise and leadership skills to facilitate continuous improvement in planning processes that address critical housing needs within the community. The successful candidate will inspire excellence in client service to both internal and external groups; drive change management initiatives; accelerate delivery of housing; initiate proactive cross department leadership and collaboration; and be an integral part of the leadership team in the Planning Department.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership: Fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and high performance. Empowering employees to contribute to organizational success and guide a team of planning and technical professionals.

Change Management: Actively promoting change by implementing strategic planning initiatives that address community growth and policy development. Using strategic agility to anticipate and influence future needs and outcomes.

Process Refinements: Continuously evaluating and refining planning processes to enhance efficiency and customer service. Implementing innovative systems that simplify development application procedures and improve service delivery.

Development Applications: Supervising the management and coordination of a wide range of development applications, ensuring they align with municipal policies, zoning regulations, and community objectives.

Housing Solutions: Driving projects and policies focused on affordable, diverse, and sustainable housing development. Working with stakeholders to identify and refine effective solutions to housing challenges.

Policy Guidance: Providing interpretations of zoning and subdivision bylaws, integrating sustainability objectives, and offering strategic input on urban design and development proposals.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Planning or a related discipline.

8-10 years of professional experience in urban planning, with extensive leadership and administrative expertise.

Registered member of the Canadian Institute of Planners.

Proficiency in urban and rural land use planning, zoning regulations, and administrative governance.

Superior communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills necessary for effective collaboration across multiple sectors.

 

Salary & Benefits

This is an Exempt position with an annual salary range between $148,150 - $174,295, an excellent benefits package and a generous pension plan.
