Description
The District of Saanich is seeking an experienced civil engineer to join our Engineering Department. The Engineering Technician IV will perform technical work involving both field and office assignments related to the field of civil engineering design, transportation, underground utilities and land development. This includes a variety of engineering duties such as site servicing review for land development, contract administration, inspection of construction projects, reports of activities undertaken, liaison with the public or consultants, preparation of conceptual, preliminary and final design drawings. May also include directing junior staff working on a specific project when required.

As an Engineering Technician IV, you will assist with the review of subdivision and development applications with respect to site servicing, perform project scoping, manage the design and delivery of engineering projects from the concept phase through to construction completion including overseeing a team of consultants; respond to public inquiries; provide technical support to internal construction crews; liaise with/make recommendations to the Engineering of Record regarding design changes; and participate in intra or inter-departmental initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a sound technical foundation, strong project management skills, refined organization skills, and effective communication skills.

Requirements

Requirements include a two-year diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution; a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience; eligibility for registration as an AScT with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians BC; a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License; a personal vehicle available for use as and when required, and is conversant with computer based engineering applications including AutoCAD. 

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week).

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E.
