- Monitor revenue and expenses monthly for various homelessness prevention programs ensuring correct allocation to general ledger accounts; prepare journal entries as required; review with Deputy Treasurer and Community Services Program Manager as required
- Prepare reports for various housing programs; submit to Ministry of Housing via TPON reporting system
- Record returned (NSF) payments as required and advise Housing Manager and Supervisor
- Prepare monthly EFT file and submit to bank for withdrawal from tenant accounts
- Support and advise Community Services staff on EFT and month-end processes
- Journal entries for monthly input to Great Plains
- Prepare and analyze budget, quarterly reports and year end reports for Ministry of Community and Social Services for OW administration and LEAP revenue and expenses
- Prepare monthly subsidy submission for Ontario Works expenditures; submit in SAMS for approval
- Track all repayments and reimbursements from Ontario Works clients and input on subsidy submission, follow up on discrepancies with OW staff
- Calculate all housing provider benchmarks annually from Ministry of Housing released Market Rent Index & Indices and prepare notification letter to Housing Providers (HP) Boards of Directors for Community Services Director's signature
- Review submitted HP budgets for accuracy and prepare approval letter for Director's signature
- Complete all aspects of financial review during HP operational reviews
- Other duties as assigned
What you’ll bring
- University degree in Accounting or Business Administration
- Three (3) years of accounting experience in a similar position
- Familiarity with accounting and banking software
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Ability to be flexible and responsive in a dynamic environment
- Strong analytical skills pertaining to research, data analysis and report-writing
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to interact effectively and courteously with all levels of staff and contacts in a customer service focused environment; able to build co-operative, collaborative working relationships with internal and external customers and vendors
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft software including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access as well as Yardi
