The City of Pitt Meadows is recruiting an Engineering Technician to provide general support to the Engineering Department at City Hall. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering and Facilities, this position will play an integral role by seeking, researching and applying to grants for active transportation, transportation, and traffic calming; collecting traffic data to proactively identify issues; supporting the City’s Active Transportation Advisory Committee and Future Safer City Committee; coordinating soil applications; and general assistance with resident inquiries. An asset in this position will be to have experience with report writing and grant applications. Sound knowledge of engineering terminology and principles will guide the work in this area.

Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm. However, participation in our Earned Day Off program and Remote Work Arrangement may be considered.

Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized Institute of Technology with a Certificate in a related discipline, plus sound experience related to the work; registration as a Certified Technician, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering terminology, materials, equipment, practices, and techniques; a focus on active transportation, transportation and soils preferred.
  • Experience working in a Municipal environment is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to review, prepare, and analyze various reports and plans related to the work.
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License.

  • CUPE Pay Grade 21, Step 1 - $37.40/hr
