Description
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Trails Supervisor – Parks. Under the general direction of the Lead Supervisor, Parks, Trails and Natural Areas, the incumbent supervises and works with skilled and semi-skilled workers and contractors for the on site construction and maintenance of park trails and other projects as directed. The Trails Supervisor maintains technical knowledge in various trades, ensures quality control of the unit, and checks and evaluates work to ensure required results are achieved.

Requirements

Applicants must have completion of Grade 12 and a Carpentry Foundation Certificate from an accredited educational institution or completion of a first year Carpentry Apprenticeship. A minimum of 4 years’ related experience, including 2 years’ supervisory experience is required. Possession of chainsaw certification and valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Applicants must have a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.

Salary & Benefits

This is a unionized position. $43.06 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2024 Rate), based on a 40 hour work week. The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
