About You / What We Are Looking For

The City of Coquitlam is currently looking for Recreation Instructors to join the Parks, Recreation, Culture and Facilities department, who are passionate about sharing their expertise in the following areas:

  • General Fitness
  • Cycle
  • Barre
  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Zumba

The successful candidates will be team players with excellent communication and people skills. You are enthusiastic, personable, energetic and outgoing, and have a passion for health and wellness. You enjoy teaching others, and working with a wide variety of individuals in teaching and motivating the public in conquering their fitness goals. Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR ‘A’ certification;
  • At least 16 years old;
  • Current BCRPA Fitness Certification registered as a fitness leader in group fitness or equivalent certification / registration accepted by the City of Coquitlam and/or specialty modules;

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pre/Post Natal Training.
  • Prior instructing and/or coaching experience.

Candidates must be available to flexibly work mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. Shifts are varied throughout the year and programs run out of different facilities in the City. 

What We Offer:

This position has an hourly rate range of $32.92 - $49.38 per hour plus 4% in lieu of benefits.  Prep-time is compensated in addition to teaching time. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
