Summary of Duties:

Reporting to the Manager, Learning and Development, the Specialist, Learning and Development works both independently and in a team environment to design, develop, and deliver learning and development programs. This position monitors compliance with existing legislation, corporate policies, procedures, and programs and provides advice and assistance to managers and employees on talent development matters.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a University Degree or Community College Diploma in Human Resources, Education or Business with an emphasis on learning and development or related professional and lived community experience.
  • Five to seven years previous related learning and development experience including experience in a unionized environment.  

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in learning and development best practices to apply throughout the Corporation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use eLearning software to create learning and development programs.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and customer services skills, including conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an effective team member and contribute to programs and services provided by the team.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations within the community; experience working collaboratively across the corporation.  
  • Ability to provide a high level of attention to detail, make sense of data and solve problems. 
  • Ability to understand the importance of service delivery; contribute to the implementation of initiatives that support the section’s customers in a timely and effective way.
  • Strong organizational skills including but not limited to planning, prioritizing, time management and the ability to multi-task.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, and related software and database applications.
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence.
Salary & Benefits

Compensation & Other Information:

$76,322 - $99,598

This posting is for (1) one permanent full-time position.

Current Hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Work hours and work arrangement are subject to change in accordance with business requirements.
