We have an exciting opportunity available for a temporary full-time Strategic Projects Manager in the Transportation & Development Services Division. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Transportation and Development Services and will be responsible for effectively leading and efficiently delivering strategic, highly visible, cross-organizational projects. This position will drive the planning and execution of work that strategically supports the Department to meet its goals in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan. The position requires a proven ability to lead large, complex municipal initiatives through effective professional leadership.

Requirements

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline/field; eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the  Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC), Project Management Professional (PMP) or minimum proficiency to pursue certification, ten (10) years of experience in a combination of project and operational management including experience/responsibility managing diverse / complex technical projects and teams; a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License; and a personal vehicle that meets the requirements described in the Transportation policy, available for use as and when required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

In addition, candidates must also have professional knowledge and diverse experience in the principles, methods and techniques applicable to civil/municipal infrastructure design and construction, specifically in retrofit environments; demonstrated ability to successfully lead teams in the delivery of multiple projects simultaneously ensuring strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders; demonstrated ability in applying engineering best practices in the review of reports and plans prepared by Professional Engineers to ensure project outcomes achieved; and excellent leadership and project management skills.

Salary & Benefits

The annual salary range for this exempt position is $108,790 - $127,980 (2024 rate) and includes an excellent benefits package.
