Description
Gordon Head Recreation Centre is seeking certified Instructor IIIs and Aquatic Instructor IIIs. Instructor IIIs are responsible for the instruction of water fit, first aid and advanced aquatic programs, while Aquatic Instructor IIIs are responsible for the instruction of Lifesaving Society advanced aquatic programs. Instructor IIIs and Aquatic Instructor IIIs provide direct instruction, leadership and program management as well as preparing course outlines and class content. These positions keep accurate attendance records and reports and maintain safe and clean work environments. Instructor IIIs and Aquatic Instructor IIIs ensure participants are taught according to safety and skill standards outlined by Saanich and Aquatic agencies.

Requirements

Requirements for Instructor IIIs include completion of Grade 10; any one of the following current appropriate awards recognized by the agencies offering advanced aquatic: Waterfit Instructor, First Aid Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor, and any Lifesaving Society Trainer certification. Three months experience and a satisfactory police information check as well as Emergency First-Aid and CPR “C” as required. Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts including daytime, evenings, and weekends (hours/shifts are subject to change). This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $29.51 per hour plus 15% ($4.42) in lieu of benefits.

Aquatic Instructor III requirements include completion of Grade 12; Lifesaving Society Instructor; six months teaching experience and a satisfactory police information check (vulnerable sector). Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts including daytime, evenings, and weekends (hours/shifts are subject to change). This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $27.53 per hour plus 15% ($4.12) in lieu of benefits.
