Description
The City of Pitt Meadows is recruiting a Bylaw Enforcement Officer to join our Buildings and Bylaw division. Reporting to the Manager of Buildings and Bylaw, this position interprets bylaws and regulations, processes complaints, conducts inspections, and gathers evidence to enforce a broad spectrum of bylaws and regulations. This position plays a crucial role in fostering a positive community environment and is in constant contact with the public.

Regular working schedule is 4 days on and 3 days off (four 10-hour days). Shifts will vary based on operational needs.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work, plus some related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Bylaw Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certification (Level 1) – Justice Institute or equivalent. Proficient using Microsoft Office and Outlook, GIS, and Records Management Systems (i.e., Tempest).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated use of sound judgement.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.
  • As some patrols may be conducted on bicycle, some training in the safe use and operations of bicycles would be an asset.
  • Valid B.C. Driver’s License.
