Description
This posting is for 1 seasonal full-time position up to 7 months(April to November) with the possibility of extension. 

The Infrastructure Inspector is responsible for the inspection of all Transportation Infrastructure in accordance with approved policy and standards including specific infrastructure inspections, following up on inquiries related to hazards existing with the transportation infrastructure, and performing inspections monthly or bi-weekly (in summer) including the review of requested additional locations.

 Responsibilities 

  • Inspect and review all transportation infrastructure for current conditions and liability hazards
  • Complete daily, weekly inspection reports including formal monthly inspection summary reports in compliance with approved Infrastructure Inspection Manual
  • Provide detailed action requests to Operations for immediate action
  • Provide detailed infrastructure reports to operation planning to ensure desired infrastructure quality is met through planned projects
  • Inspect and review completed operational projects as needed for quality assurance
  • Provide updates and quality reports to Senior Infrastructure Technologist - Inspections for formal
  • quality assurance review
  • Provide operations planning team with current infrastructure data to support updates to
  • operational project plans
  • Communicate with landowners to address resident concerns by investigating and providing response to inquiries
  • Liaise and be a resource to the department within the regional transportation industry while assisting in creation of short and long-term inspection reports
Requirements

Qualifications and Skills 

  • High School Diploma with 2 to 3 years of related experience 
  • Municipal infrastructure maintenance and construction experience is preferred
  • Related diploma from a post-secondary technical institution would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of transportation infrastructure, and construction standards.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills within established methodologies and specifications  
  • Ability to compare past inspections with current conditions and advise of infrastructure deterioration of all transportation assets  
  • Ability to be alert when working in a traffic environment, on construction sites and roadways  
  • A high level of attention to detail is required for updating databases and conducting analysis of data  
  • Knowledge of transportation infrastructure and construction standards  
  • Knowledge in road construction and temporary traffic control  
  • Need to be an independently motivated individual 

 Conditions of Employment 

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits 
  • Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk/drive for extended periods of time 
Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $25.46 - $31.84
