The Manager of Strategic Cloud Technology Platforms (Manager Strategic Platforms) is accountable for providing high quality and innovative IT technology services and support to all County departments while ensuring that the County IT platform ecosystem is robust, stable, and available to serve current and upcoming business needs.

This position fosters creativity and drives innovation in the branch with the aim of continuously improving the IT landscape, gaining efficiencies, and recommending smart investments in technologies that will meet business area demands in service of the residents of Strathcona County.

This role may be eligible to participate in our hybrid work program.  The successful candidate will be required to reside within 2 hours of Sherwood Park, Alberta. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior leadership and strategic direction to cross-functional teams of analysts and contractors in the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud-based solutions leveraging the Microsoft M365 and Azure ecosystems.
  • Oversee and manage the health and stability of the County’s suite of platform solutions and services that support County wide operations, ensuring customer needs are met to a high level of satisfaction.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive strategies, tactical plans, and roadmaps for the County’s IT platforms increasing efficiencies, reducing operational complexity, and lowering total cost of ownership of a range of platforms.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the County to understand the business needs and challenges, define requirements, prioritize projects, and align technology initiatives with business objectives.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for innovation through the use of emerging industry technology such as Software, Platform, and Function as a Service solutions to enhance County operations and efficiency.
  • Responsible for integrating financial factors into IT decision-making processes, encompassing budget allocation, project costing, and financial reporting accountability.
Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information technology or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years direct related and progressive experience in the IT profession within a large corporation or government organization
  • At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role, demonstrating strong managerial skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams effectively
  • Proven experience in managing cloud technology platforms, with a focus on strategic planning and execution
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, and experience with organizational change management
  • Experience working in a public sector organization is preferred
  • Experience with Information technology Infrastructure library (ITIL) and Control Objectives for Information and related Technologies (COBIT)
  • Project management, service ownership, and product delivery 
Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $120,684.20 - $150,859.80
