The successful candidate will possess a foundational understanding of digital channels, with core strengths that lie in conceptualizing and overseeing marketing and advertising campaigns; evaluating the effectiveness of various communication avenues; and fostering collaborative relationships. Additionally, this position will help guide the City’s communications strategy, support internal communications and marketing education initiatives, and will harness meaningful insights from digital analytics to refine the City's online strategies.
Some specific accountabilities for this position include:
- Collaborate with the Director of Corporate Communications and other departments in preparing and executing annual departmental communication plans.
- Collaborate closely with creative professionals to coordinate and manage various services to ensure marketing, advertising, and digital efforts are seamlessly integrated and executed.
- Bolster the City’s corporate image through well-crafted, creative communication that informs residents and elevates the City’s profile on regional, provincial, and national platforms.
- Generate diverse content tailored for multiple platforms, including media releases, social media, newsletters, blogs, videos, and print materials.
- Offer guidance and expertise to other City departments for marketing and communication initiatives and assist with corporate activities as needed.
- Minimum of a diploma, preferably a degree, in communications, marketing advertising, digital media management, public relations, journalism or a related field is required. However, an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
- A minimum five years’ experience in the marketing and advertising sector relating to communications and marketing planning, management, and execution.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience managing, growing, and reporting on digital strategies and campaigns, including websites, Google Ads, and social media is required.
- Proficiency in computer literacy including Microsoft Office products, web-based applications, internet, and desktop publishing applications such as Canva, InDesign, and Acrobat.
- Competency with social media (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, LinkedIn) is required.
- Municipal government experience and community knowledge are considered assets.
Hours of Work: 37.5 per week; Monday to Friday (some weekend work may be required)
The City of Fort Saskatchewan offers a salary range of $80,145.00 to $94,282.50 per annum.
