Description
As the Social Policy and Innovation Analyst, you will develop innovative strategies, concepts, engagement plans and public policy that address complex social issues and support implementation of the Strathcona County Social Framework. Using new ways of thinking and working together, you will collaborate with internal and external partners to build initiatives responding to emerging needs in the community. In this role, you will challenge mental models, explore community connection and facilitate social change.

This posting is for one Full Time Permanent and one Full Time Temporary opportunity up to 9 months. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the development of social policy in a complex environment with changing issues and priorities
  • Develop strong internal capacity for the delivery of social initiatives in support of the team, branch and department
  • Support the Social Framework policy agenda by engaging and collaborating with community partners
  • Identify and develop tools, methods and processes to inform policy
  • Undertake research and summarize findings to inform policy and shared learning
  • Design and implement evaluation of programs and projects
  • Prepare discussion papers, briefings and advice for senior leadership on strategic policy and related initiatives
  • Prepare briefings and reports, collaborate and network, and plan for and manage multiple concurrent initiatives

  • Ability to build collaborative processes and foster strong relationships with partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to undertake research and evaluation, gather information and apply critical thinking, including systems thinking within a changing environment
  • Knowledge of project management methods and the ability to support a project from conception through to implementation
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion  
  • Strong knowledge of approaches to policy development
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in the human services field or social sciences including political sciences, human ecology, anthropology, sociology, psychology or related field with a minimum of four years relevant experience
  • Experience in a policy related field across a range of areas including non-profit, government and community
  • Demonstrated experience developing policy within the full policy cycle, preparing and reviewing policy as well as data analysis
  • Experience working with multiple methods to develop collaborative processes

Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $77,532 - $96,933
