Under the general direction of the Manager, Bylaw Services, the incumbent investigates complaints from citizens, City departments, Council, and other government agencies with respect to alleged infractions of the City’s regulatory bylaws and undertakes appropriate action to gain compliance by negotiation, Council, or Court.
Applicants must have Completion of Grade 12 supplemented with courses from the Justice Institute of BC relating to criminology and investigative and conflict resolution skills (e.g. Bylaw Investigative Skills 1 and 2), and a minimum 2 years’ directly related experience in the enforcement of municipal bylaws or a combination of knowledge and experience in other investigative fields. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
This is a unionized position. $36.28 - $38.19 per hour (Jan 2022 Rate). Hours of work: Monday to Sunday, 4 – 10 hour days, 40 hours per week.
This vacancy is expected to be up to one year in duration.
