Description
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Crime Analyst.
Reporting to the Manager, Police Support Services, the incumbent provides specialized, dedicated research to support criminal investigative activities and the development of Detachment projects and programs. The Crime Analyst will be responsible for the analysis and interpretation of a variety of investigative and intelligence data to monitor and identify crime patterns. The incumbent works with minimal supervision and exercises independent action and judgement in daily work. Complex matters will be discussed with senior authorities.

Requirements

Applicants must have a Diploma in Criminology or related field and a minimum 1 year experience of analytical or statistical research and presentation of complex crime data in a law enforcement setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary & Benefits

This is a unionized position. $38.19 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2022 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week. Relocation assistance may be provided to the successful applicant. The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
