Description
 

Reporting directly to the Area Supervisor, this role is responsible for operating and maintaining heavy equipment and performing various duties for the division’s winter and summer maintenance program.

• Operate heavy vehicles/equipment and maintain under all legislated requirements

• Particpate in winter road maintenance programs

• Participate in road maintenance programs including roadside maintenance, drainage, hard top etc.

• Perform all routine maintainence including daily safety and maintenance checks

• Record road conditions and report to Area Supervisor

• Assit with road patrol and/or inspections as per the requirements of the provincial minimum maintenance standards for highways

• Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required

• Advise the Area Supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs

• Participate in and attend training courses as required by the Town

• Perform other duties, including labour jobs when required

• Be responsible to work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the Town of Caledon Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines

• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including lifting up to 50 lbs and work in adverse weather conditions

• Must be available to work irregular hours, and may be required to work overtime

• Regular travel to various town sites

Requirements

 

 

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent

• Valid DZ licence, in good standing with no more than 3 demerit points

• Experience in the operation of heavy equipment and snow equipment under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act

• Must be compliant with the Commercial Vehicle Operator Registration

• Must be capable of completing a variety of work forms and maintain accurate work time records

• Demonstrated mechanical ability

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

• Must be courteous and respectful when dealing with the public
