Environmental Services Department for an experienced and motivated individual

WATER RESOURCES ANALYST

Responsible for being the Subject Matter Expert in supporting the implementation of stormwater initiatives including enhanced maintenance initiatives, regulatory compliance activities, climate change mitigation measures, capital projects, flood remediation studies as well as operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). In this role you will engage businesses and the public through education and outreach activities, raising awareness among Vaughan residents and businesses about stormwater management and the stormwater charge. You will be tasked to monitor key metrics associated with the program elements and recommend measures to ensure continual improvement.

Requirements

Qualifications and experience:

  • University degree in Urban Planning, Environmental studies or other related discipline; or suitable equivalent.

  • 5 years with expertise in environmental program development with 3 years in municipal government.

  • Computer literate and proficient in MS Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint etc.,

  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills; excellent oral and written communication skills on technical and non-technical matters, including effective report writing.

  • Working knowledge of municipal stormwater issues.

  • Comprehensive knowledge ofrelevant environmental legislation.

  • Possess an openness and flexibility to try new approaches and methodologies.

  • Ability to self-manage, and identify issues, challenges, and opportunities and propose solutions.

  • Demonstrated abilitytoworkindependentlyandcollaborativelyinateam environment.

  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the Public, Staff, Members of Council, Consultants, and Industry.

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations and the Corporate Occupational Health and Safety Policy and related procedures.

  • Ability to work outside normal business hours as required.
