Description
Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, Inclusion and Support Services, the Recreation Lead, Inclusion and Support Services is responsible for the oversight and delivery of inclusion and volunteer programs citywide, as well as the development and improvement of operational processes. Provides leadership and guidance with the hiring of staff, including scheduling, maintaining staff attendance records and sitting in on interviews. Coordinates and delivers training as it relates to program needs.

Monitors staff performance and provides ongoing coaching, addresses and takes action on staff performance issues, including directly administering or assisting with disciplinary measures. Ensures divisional and corporate service standards as well as health and safety procedures are followed and maintained in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations, AODA and Employment Standards Act. Public Pool Regulations and related legislation.

Requirements

• Four (4) year University Degree in Business or Public Administration, Recreation and Leisure, Therapeutic Recreation, Mental Health, Behavioural Sciences or suitable equivalent or related experience.

• Willing to obtain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification Trainer Certification from an accredited association within 1-year upon hire.

• Minimum of four (4) years related experience preferably providing inclusion and support services in a municipal and/or recreational environment and at least one (1) year supervising part-time seasonal staff.

• Hold and maintain High five: Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.

• Hold and maintain Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certifications.

• High energy team player capable of multi-tasking and coordinating several significant portfolio initiatives successfully.

• Proven ability to work independently on a wide range of duties and job functions in a high paced and stressful environment.

• Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, interpersonal, staff development skills; demonstrated budget management skills.

• Demonstrated ability in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters involving Police and social service organizations.

• Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe, etc.),

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written including drafting correspondence, presentations, media and reports. Demonstrated ability to research and gather information.

• Effective time management, organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to set priorities and meet required deadlines with conflicting demands and changing priorities coupled with problem solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to deal effectively and courteously with internal staff, consultants, the public and other government agencies.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing direct inclusive programming, implementing program adaptations, behaviour management and physical intervention techniques.

• Comprehensive knowledge of trends, issues and strategies in diversity, inclusion, human rights and equity in the workplace.

• Ability to analyze issues and problems, evaluate alternative solutions and develop sound conclusions, recommendations and courses of action.

• Effective time management, organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to working under stressful conditions set priorities and meet required deadlines with conflicting demands and changing priorities coupled with problem solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and balance multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities.

• A valid Ontario ‘G’ driver’s license, in good standing, with access to a reliable vehicle for corporate use.

• Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability in, the City's core and leadership competencies and functional core competencies.

• Successful candidate must provide a "Vulnerable Sector Check" from an accredited Police agency in Ontario, prior to employment.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: $89,754.00 to $106,846.00 /Year
