Reporting to the General Manager, Planning, Infrastructure and Economic Development, the Director, Planning Services provides the vision, leadership, and strategic direction for city building in Canada’s capital. You will lead your team of 250 staff as they review the City’s development applications, develop urban planning and design policies, and plan for Ottawa’s unique combination of urban neighbourhoods, rural villages, and suburban communities. The Director is a key advisor to Council and stakeholders in the development and implementation of growth strategies and the administration of the City’s Official Plan. 

Requirements

A Registered Professional Planner, the ideal candidate possesses more than 10 years of urban design and planning experience gained either in a government setting or as a consultant partnering with governments. Being a strategic leader who has demonstrated the ability to build collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders in the private and public sectors will be essential to the Director’s success. A customer centric approach and a commitment to transparency and integrity in achieving results is essential.
