EVENTS COORDINATOR

Responsible for coordinating event-related services for assigned City events and related sponsorship. Events include WinterFest, Volunteer Recognition, Mayor’s Gala, Canada Day Celebrations, Concerts in the Park, Mayor’s Golf Tournament, and any other events managed by Recreation Services. Contributes to the development and implementation of policies, procedures and strategies related to assigned City events and related sponsorship. Implements event protocol and policies, monitors allotted budget and assists in the coordination of community outreach programs including volunteer development, focus groups and surveys.
Qualifications and experience:
Community College diploma in Event Management, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or suitable equivalent. Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in event management, public relations, marketing, communications, and volunteer recruitment and development. Demonstrated ability in event management and public relations. Ability to work independently on a wide range of duties and job functions. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and work effectively with volunteers, City staff, suppliers and corporate sponsors, including interaction with senior corporate executives within the community. A high-energy team player with superior organizational and multi-tasking skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Computer literacy in a Windows environment utilizing Microsoft Office applications. Initiative to generate new ideas and proven problem solving skills. Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability in, the City’s core competencies and relevant functional competencies.
