Description

Business Unit Information:

To maintain public green spaces, outdoor recreational facilities and to ensure that a diverse parks system is maintained to the highest possible standard while ensuring opportunities for active and passive leisure that will enhance quality of life for individuals and the community.

Primary Accountabilities Include:

Maintenance of outdoor open space, of all parks, boulevards and other City property
Crew Leader for seasonal staff during April to September
Winter duties will include snow removal, ice maintenance, and outdoor maintenance of open space

Requirements

Education/Experience Requirements:

LGAP certification or equivalent
Minimum 2 years horticultural experience
Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License required
Level One Swimming Pool Operators Certificate would be an asset
Playground Safety Inspection course would be an asset

Skills and Attributes:

Proven leadership skills
Effective public relations skills to tactfully interact with the public
Ability to perform heavy manual work in all types of weather

Additional Information:
This full time position is 40 hours per week. Summer hours will be 7:30am to 4:30pm, and winter hours will be 6:00am to 3:00pm.

Work is done primarily outside under all weather conditions.
