Description

The Surrey Fire Services is currently recruiting for an EVT Mechanic 1 that will oversee the fleet vehicles and equipment. Reporting to the Chief Mechanic, the successful incumbent will play a key role in providing mechanic expertise and service to one of the largest fire department fleets in British Columbia.   • You will use your expertise, knowledge and mechanical abilities of commercial and/or heavy duty equipment to provide and to perform a variety of skills mechanical tasks in the overhaul, repair, maintenance, fabrication and installation of firefighting and departmental equipment and apparatus.
  • You work well under pressure as you attend second or greater fires to ensure the best performance of all machinery.
  • You shall have extensive knowledge and experience with electronic diagnostics and troubleshooting, multiplex systems and computer diagnostic software.
  • Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be critical as you interact with Firefighters, Administration Team, and other stakeholders.
  • You work well under pressure and maintain composure while attending emergency situations
  • Your effective time management and organizational skills will be critical as you deliver on your objectives within demanding timelines and quickly adjust to changes in areas of focus.
Requirements

To be considered you will possess:

  • Grade 12 and Mechanical Red Seal trade certification
  • A valid Class 3 BC Driver’s License with air brake endorsement and a safe driving record are required.
  • Commercial Vehicle Inspector’s License
  • Strong Computer skills with a variety of different software.
  • Training in Fire protocols, techniques, and emergency response.
  • A criminal record check will be required.
  • EVT certifications and experience will be considered an asset
