Edmonton Transit is looking for an individual to join its team as a Planner II.  You will be responsible for highly specialized work, including the following:

  • Conducting professional level reviews and preparing Branch responses for land use and development proposals affecting transit service, including various City plans and policies, Area Structure Plans, Neighbourhood Structure Plans, Subdivision Plans, Area Redevelopment Plans, Business Revitalization Zones, and Community Plans
  • Providing project coordination for special studies and policy/procedure development on behalf of Edmonton Transit
  • Initiating and preparing subdivision applications and plan registrations for transit facilities
  • Preparing and reviewing project terms or reference, and providing direction on study methodologies, data compilation and analysis
  • Working directly with the public, consultants, and outside agencies
  • Negotiating and preparing legal agreements
  • Reviewing and commenting on detail engineering drawings, roadway facility plans, and architectural design plans
  • Representing the Customer Development and Route / Scheduling Planning Section of Edmonton Transit as required
  • Performing other related duties as required

Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or a discipline related to Transportation Planning
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible urban planning experience, specifically related to transit planning and transportation planning
  • Experience interpreting and applying federal and provincial planning legislation
  • Experience in traffic engineering as it affects an urban transit operation
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and spreadsheets
  • Working knowledge of computer software programs including Microstation, CAD, CIS, SLIM and POSSE would be an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain excellent working relationships
  • Possession of valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicles Operators License operator’s license equivalent recognized by the Operators Licensing Control Regulation, Alta. Reg. 320/2002
  • Applicants will be required to arrange their own transportation and where appropriate will be reimbursed in accordance with the City of Edmonton policy. This may require the applicant to obtain business use auto insurance

Hours of Work:  33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.

Salary Range:  21M, Salary Grade: 032, $42.306 - $53.987 (Hourly), $74,532.60 - $95,111.60 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton. This union contract is currently under negotiation.
