Improving how your housing data tells its story just got easier thanks to an innovative new tool for municipal teams

UnDashboard helps data teams assess and improve clarity, accessibility, and impact of their visualizations and reports -

Municipal data teams are doing more than ever.

They are asked to translate complex housing data into clear insights for decision-makers, leadership, and the public. But even strong datasets can fall short if they are difficult to interpret or communicate.

Most teams are trained in tools, not in data communication or visualization best practices. As a result, important insights can be missed, misunderstood, or inaccessible to key audiences.

UnDashboard helps close that gap.

It provides a structured way to review and improve data outputs, allowing teams to:

  • assess visualizations for clarity and meaning
  • identify accessibility gaps and usability issues
  • compare outputs against best practices
  • ensure data is communicated in a way that supports better decisions

Rather than adding more work, the tool helps teams strengthen what they are already producing.

The result is data that is easier to understand, more accessible, and more useful in real-world decision-making.

UnDashboard was developed with municipal partners as part of a multi-year research initiative focused on improving housing decision-making across Canada.

It was developed with support from the Government of Canada's Ministry of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities and is completely free for municipal teams to use.
