This posting is for two positions; one temporary full-time position that may continue up to 18 months, in accordance with Section 18.02 of the CSU 52 Collective Agreement; and one permanent full-time position.

As a Drafting Technician I here is how you will provide drafting support to the Applications Unit:
• Drafting blue prints and Real Property Reports submitted during the permitting process onto Tax Assessment Collection System (TACS)
• Obtaining, reviewing, verifying and assembling data submitted during the permitting process from various sources while maintaining data integrity
• Completing calculations and tabulations as they relate to building areas
• Maintaining master building plans database, and documenting current drafting practiced within the Assessment Branch
• Assisting in the maintenance of the current filing system
• Performing computer aided tasks such as graphic production, spreadsheet preparation and other technical support tasks
• Preparing presentations using PowerPoint, Prezi, freehand, and Photoshop
• Identifying and verifying correct building structures, attributes, and quality type codes
• New Plot Plan and Assessment Parcel data entry into TACS and SLIM datasets. Maintenance of Assessment Parcel data in TACS and SLIM
• Completion of a 2 year diploma in Architectural, Civil or Engineering Design and Drafting technology program from a recognized institution
• Minimum of two (2) years structural/residential drafting experiences
• Strong working knowledge of Auto-Cad, Microstation, Freehand drafting, Adobe Acrobat, and standard Windows desktop applications
• Strong knowledge of Albert Building Code
• Experience using APEX, POSSE, GeoMedia Professional and SLIM considered an asset. Alberta Land Titles knowledge also considered an asset
• Knowledge of planning procedures and processes and effectively applying this knowledge to assignments
• Demonstrate strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting and to establish effective working relationships
• Ability to maintain a high level of attendance and reliability. Ability to work with minimum supervision

• A security clearance is a condition of employment. The successful candidate will be required to obtain a security clearance letter from the Edmonton Police Department that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program
Salary Range: 21M, Salary Grade: 018, $31.041 - $38.993 (Hourly); $54,686.48 - $68,695.92 (Annually).
