Position Description: | The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is a rapidly growing community and has exciting and challenging career opportunities for Fire Fighter/EMT-A's. The Fort McMurray Fire Department, like the region it serves, is entering an era of exciting change and growth. The Fort McMurray Fire Department will be accepting resumes for a number of intakes for EMT-A's (must be registered with Alberta College of Paramedics). Qualifications:
• Current Alberta College of Paramedics Emergency Medical Technician Certification is required.
• Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) certification.
• Valid Class Four (4) Alberta driver's license with “Q” Endorsement.
• Provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector check for review and acceptance.
• NFPA 1001 Level I and II are required.
• Valid Class Three (3) driver’s license (with "Q" endorsement) or equivalent out of province is preferred.
A Primary Care Paramedic moving into the Province of Alberta would qualify as an EMT-Ambulance. However, all individuals must be registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics to legally practice in Alberta. Salary Range: $36.76 per hour (Fire Fighter/EMT-A Probation)
(Candidates registered through ACP (Alberta College of Paramedics) and the Health Disciples Board as an Emergency Medical Technician – Ambulance are eligible for additional education pay.)
