Position Description:

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is a rapidly growing community and has exciting and challenging career opportunities for Fire Fighter/EMT-A's.

 

The Fort McMurray Fire Department, like the region it serves, is entering an era of exciting change and growth.

                                                                               

The Fort McMurray Fire Department will be accepting resumes for a number of intakes for EMT-A's (must be registered with Alberta College of Paramedics). Candidates will be contacted regarding the details of the testing and interview process. An outline of the testing procedures can be found on our website: www.woodbuffalo.ab.ca

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

 • Current Alberta College of Paramedics Emergency Medical Technician Certification is required.
• Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) certification.
• Valid Class Four (4) Alberta driver's license with “Q” Endorsement.
• Provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector check for review and acceptance.
• NFPA 1001 Level I and II are required.
• Valid Class Three (3) driver’s license (with "Q" endorsement) or equivalent out of province is preferred.

A Primary Care Paramedic moving into the Province of Alberta would qualify as an EMT-Ambulance. However, all individuals must be registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics to legally practice in Alberta. Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $36.76 per hour (Fire Fighter/EMT-A Probation)

(Candidates registered through ACP (Alberta College of Paramedics) and the Health Disciples Board as an Emergency Medical Technician – Ambulance are eligible for additional education pay.)
