Director of Innovation and Continuous Improvement
The City of Vaughan believes that innovation and continuous improvement are essential ingredients for successful municipal government and warrant special attention. That belief has led to the creation of a Director of Innovation and Continuous Improvement role whose mission is to foster innovation and change, and to assemble a continuous improvement framework that enhances the culture and productivity across the organization.
One of Southern Ontario’s fastest growing cities, with a mix of urban and rural areas, Vaughan is an in-demand place to live and to work. Considered one of Canada’s most family-friendly cities, Vaughan has a dynamic and diverse population of over 300,000 people. With a high performance economy, a growing tourism industry and an enviable portfolio of recreational and cultural venues, this is a wonderful place to live and advance your career. Its progressive vision of building “a city of choice” promotes diversity, innovation and opportunity for all citizens through public engagement.
Reporting to the new Commissioner, Strategic & Corporate Services, you will bring proven project management, consulting and facilitation skills to all of the City of Vaughan’s departments. As an organizational champion of change and innovation, you’ll help them to prioritize and implement improvement projects and initiatives as part of their ongoing operations. You will also build a process improvement framework with associated tools to enable a consistent and straightforward approach to continuous improvement across the City of Vaughan organization. One of your key responsibilities will revolve around having the right people in the right positions in your department. Ensure that they are trained, developed and engaged in the projects that will yield the greatest possible impact across the municipality.
A champion of change, innovation, continuous improvement and advanced processes, you have transformed cultures and met elevated expectations. In addition to your degree, you may also be accredited in facilitation, Six Sigma or Lean management principles. With ten years of experience in a complex, unionized setting, you understand the challenges and the solutions.
