Description
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Records Supervisor, Police. Under the direction of the Manager, Police Services, the incumbent supervises support staff in the Records Unit and assists the Shift Supervisor to review the work of the Watch Clerks and Switchboard Operators. The Records Supervisor performs specialized quality assurance and data maintenance of the Records Management Systems (PRIME, Ibook, CPIC and CJIM); reviews and evaluates workflow with the PRIME Coordinator and recommends changes in local policy and procedures.

Requirements

Applicants must have completed Grade 12 and have a minimum 5 years’ experience in an RCMP records environment, including a minimum of 1-year supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Enhanced Reliability Status as a condition of employment, in accordance with the Government of Canada’s Directive on Security Screening. Applicants must provide a complete and verifiable five (5) year history, including residences, employment, education, and other activities, with no unexplained gaps. Periods of six (6) consecutive months or more spent outside Canada must be disclosed and may require additional verification. Screening may include identity verification, criminal record checks, reference checks, credit check, and other background inquiries relevant to the position.

Salary & Benefits

This is a CUPE bargaining unit position based on a 35-hour work week, and subject to Article 1(d) - Probationary Period as set out in the Union Collective Agreement. The hourly wage is $42.25, increasing to $44.47 after 60 working days (Jan 2026 Rates). Hours of work will be between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., Sunday through Saturday, 7 hours per day. The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan. Shortlisted applicants may be required to undergo verification of their education credentials.
