Saanich Commonwealth Place is seeking an Instructor III – Take Heart Program to join our team. The Take Heart Program provides a supportive exercise environment for individuals participating in cardiac rehabilitation and related health and wellness programming.

The successful candidate will work alongside primary clinical staff to help monitor the exercise environment for clinical safety and tailor exercise activities to the individual needs and abilities of participants. The Instructor III will evaluate, update and document client exercise programs on an ongoing basis; maintain clear and concise client documentation, records and statistics; and provide safe, organized and effective instruction.

The Instructor III will also serve as an educational resource for clients, families and other members of the client care team. Responsibilities include coaching clients and families to identify, develop and maintain health-promoting behaviour within the context of illness or disease; providing motivational support related to long-term behavioral modification and exercise; monitoring compliance with prescribed exercise programs; preparing equipment and program areas; and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.

Requirements

Required Certifications: BCRPA Personal Training or equivalent and current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C. Preference will be given to candidates with experience delivering cardiac rehabilitation and health and wellness programs. Candidates must also provide a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) no older than six months

The successful candidates will work Tuesdays and Thursdays with availability 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hours and shifts are subject to change. Although we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.

Salary & Benefits
