Saanich Commonwealth Place is seeking Aquatic Instructor II’s to deliver safe, engaging Lifesaving Society Swim for Life programming. The ideal candidates are dependable team players who are committed to participant safety, positive customer service, and creating an inclusive and enjoyable recreation experience for people of all ages and abilities.
In this role, you will plan and instruct assigned aquatic classes in accordance with District and certifying-agency safety and skill standards; evaluate participant progress; complete lesson progress cards and basic reports; enforce pool rules; and respond to participant and pool-user questions. You will also help maintain a safe, clean pool-deck and in-water environment, identify and report hazards, attend in-service training, and promote a friendly recreational atmosphere.
Requirements include Proof of grade 10, a minimum age of 15 years, and three months of related experience, together with a Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Award. Employment is subject to provision of a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) check no older than six months. Renewal of the PIC-VS is required as per policy. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and statutory holidays, as operationally required. Hours and shifts are subject to continuous operations. As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted.
