Saanich Commonwealth Place is seeking five casual Building Service Worker II - Pool employees to join its Maintenance team. These positions support the safe, clean, efficient operation of the swimming pool and associated recreation-facility spaces, equipment, and systems.
In this hands-on role, you will complete facility set-up, clean-up, custodial, and preventative-maintenance work; operate and service pool water-heating and filtration equipment; and maintain pool-water purity. You will also carry out minor maintenance and repair work involving building systems and equipment, including heating and air-conditioning systems, compressors, plumbing fixtures, painting, and carpentry. The work includes maintaining equipment-operation records and assisting with training new part-time, seasonal, and auxiliary employees.
Requirements include Grade 11 or equivalent; Pool Operators I and II qualifications; WHMIS certification valid within one year; and Occupational First Aid Level I, as required. You will bring more than three and up to six months of related experience. Employment is subject to the provision of a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) no older than six months; renewal is required in accordance with policy. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidates will have sufficient physical strength to perform the work and the stamina to work varying shifts. These casual positions involve varying hours of work, as operationally required; hours and shifts are subject to change. As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted.
