Seeking an enthusiastic and safety-focused Instructor II - Gymnastics to join the Recreation Division at Gordon Head Recreation Centre. This position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about gymnastics instruction and enjoys creating engaging, safe, and inclusive learning experiences for children and youth of varying ages and abilities.
In this role, you will provide direct instruction, leadership, and program support for gymnastics programs. You will prepare class spaces and equipment, develop course outlines and engaging class content, welcome participants, provide accurate and encouraging feedback, and maintain attendance records and reports. You will help ensure that facility rules are followed, equipment is safely stored, and each program environment remains clean, organized, and safe.
Requirements include completion of Grade 10; three months of related instructional experience; and related certification or, where certification does not exist, at least three months of training in the area of instruction. A satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector check no older than six months is required; renewal is required in accordance with District policy. Emergency First Aid and CPR C certification are required, as applicable.
The successful candidates will normally work Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and may be required to substitute on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., based on operational needs. Hours and shifts are subject to change. Strong communication, relationship-building, problem-solving, customer service, and adaptability skills are essential.
